The task of Jet Pipe
the design of the exhaust system exerts a considerable influence on the performance of the engine.
To provide thrust of the turbo-jet engine the gases from the turbine must exit in the correct direction and at the optimum velocity.
However in the turbo-prop engine, the thrust is provided by the propeller, the turbine gas temperature and back pressure at the turbine are dictated by the design of the outlet nozzle.
The temperature of the gases eneterinh the exhaust system are around 550C to 850C. This temperature can reach up to 1500c if an after burner is used.

Low ratio By-pass engine
The low ratio by pass engine combines by the pass air and the hot exhaust gases in a mixer unit. The mixer unit ensures thorough mixing of the two streams before they are ejected into the atmosphere.
High ratio by-pass engine
There are two methods used, the standard method, whereby the hot and cold nozzles are co-axial and the two streams mix externally. Greater efficiency however is obtained by fitting and exhaust nozzle. Within this type of unit the two gases flows are partially mixed together before their ejection (releasing) into the atmosphere.
